Things We Corrected

Healthcare regulations change. Official guidance gets updated. Sometimes we get something wrong in our initial research. When any of those things happen, we document it here rather than quietly editing the article and moving on. This page is a public record of corrections.

Why we maintain this log

Polish healthcare rules change regularly. NFZ publishes updated zarządzenia (administrative orders) that alter coverage rules, co-payment structures, and procedural requirements. A piece of information that was accurate when we published it may become outdated months later. We check our core articles periodically against current NFZ publications, but we cannot catch everything immediately.

When a reader points out an error, or when we identify one ourselves, we update the relevant article and add an entry below. The entry records what was wrong, what the correct information is, when it was corrected, and the source we used to verify the update.

Clarification on voluntary NFZ contribution amounts

What we originally wrote

Our NFZ coverage article stated that voluntary contributions are calculated as a fixed percentage of the minimum wage. This was an oversimplification that did not reflect how the calculation base actually works.

What the current information says

Voluntary NFZ contributions are calculated as a percentage of a declared income base, which is subject to a statutory minimum. The minimum base and percentage are set by legislation and can change annually. The correct current figures are published on the NFZ website (nfz.gov.pl) under the voluntary insurance section. We updated the article to direct readers to the NFZ source for current figures rather than stating a number that may become outdated.

Updated operating hours for Teleplatforma Pierwszego Kontaktu

What we originally wrote

The article on Teleplatforma stated that the service was available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This was based on earlier documentation that no longer reflects the current service parameters.

What the current information says

Teleplatforma Pierwszego Kontaktu operating hours are set by NFZ administrative orders and can be updated. The current hours should be verified directly on the official NFZ or pacjent.gov.pl resources, as they differ between weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. We revised our article to reflect this and to instruct readers to confirm hours before calling.

Removed incorrect claim about prescription paper colours

What we originally wrote

An early draft of our pharmacy guide described the colour-coding system for paper prescriptions in a way that mixed up the categories. We stated that blue prescriptions were for controlled substances, which was inaccurate.

What the current information says

The Polish prescription colour system distinguishes between standard prescriptions, those for controlled substances (środki odurzające and substancje psychotropowe), and those for certain reimbursed medications. The specific colours and their meanings are defined in Polish pharmaceutical law. Because this system applies primarily to paper prescriptions, which are now rare since the introduction of e-prescriptions (e-recepta), we updated the article to focus on e-prescriptions and note that paper prescription rules are an edge case that a pharmacist or prescribing doctor can clarify directly.

Corrected the number of free POZ changes per year

What we originally wrote

We stated that patients can change their POZ doctor once per year at no cost. This was incorrect.

What the current information says

Under current NFZ rules, patients can change their declared POZ doctor twice per calendar year without incurring a fee. A third or subsequent change within the same year may involve a small administrative fee. This rule applies to the doctor declaration specifically; the nurse and midwife declarations within POZ have their own rules. We updated the POZ registration guide to reflect this and to note that rules should be confirmed with the specific clinic, as administrative practices can vary.
